Preface

Traditional Chinese Medicine Yearbook of China is sponsored by the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It used to beYearbook of Traditional Chinese Medicine published by Shanghai College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1983 and was renamed Traditional Chinese Medicine Yearbook of China in 1989. Starting from volume 2003, the Traditional Chinese Medicine Yearbook of China was divided into administration volume and academic volume. The administration volume is compiled by China Press of Traditional Chinese Medicine, while the academic volume is compiled by Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.


Traditional Chinese Medicine Yearbook of China (Academic volume) (volume 2022) is the 40th volume, mainly based on TCM academicjournals nationwide issued in year 2021, selecting high quality articles published TCM journals, covering over 3000 articles sponsored by National Natural Science Foundation of China, National Social Science Fund of China, etc., centering on annual academic progress and hot spots, paying close attention to key TCM projects progress, and focusing on significant scientific research achievements. Both paper version and web version of the volume are available. The paper version consists of columns such as Special Reprint, Special Papers, University President Forum, Academic Achievements, Fighting Epidemic, Academic Progress, Events, Index, Appendix and Attached Figures.The web version covers the newly published TCM standards, the project list of TCM awards, the lists of newly published TCM books and TCM journals, classified catalogue of TCM scholarly journal articles, and new compounds and novel skeletons found in Chinese Medicinal Herbs.


 TCMisthegemofancientChinesescience,anditisalsoakeytoopenthetreasureofChinesecivilization. It significantly contributes to prosperity of Chinese nation and exerts positive impact on progress of world civilization. Inheriting, innovating and developing TCM is an important part of the socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era and a major event related to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. It is of great significance for adhering to the equal emphasis of TCM and Western medicine, creating a health development model with Chinese characteristics in which TCM and Western medicine complement and coordinate each other, giving full play to the original advantages of TCM, promoting innovation and breakthroughs in China's life sciences, carrying forward the excellent traditional Chinese culture, and enhancing national self-confidence and cultural self-confidence.


 General Secretary Xi Jinping made a series of important comments on the TCM work. These important comments closely connect the promotion of the high-quality development of TCM with the inheritance and development of excellent Chinese traditional culture, the promotion of the construction of a healthy China and the construction of a community with a shared future for human health, pointing out the way forward for better work on TCM inheritance and development, as well as the Yearbook for us. March 2022, the General Office of the State Council released "14th Five-Year Plan" for The Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine, whichcomprehensively deployed the work of TCM during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, which fully reflects the firm determination and key measures of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council to fully promote the revitalization and development of TCM in the context of the new era.


 Guided by National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, supported by Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, assisted by all the editorial members, experts and friends, 40 volumes of theYearbook of China (Academic volume) have been compiled and published continuously. For 40 years, it has recorded the academic achievements and progress of TCM in a detailed, objective and scientific manner. All the editors, with tremendous rigor and enormous sense of historical mission, will continue to aim to improve the compilation quality and increase the academic influence on the basic cause which is essential for academic inheritance and innovation, not only serving the contemporary but also benefiting the future, to enable it to play full role in supporting state affairs upon recording history and foreseeing the future by reviewing the past.
